I startled or scared no less than three people on my way into work yesterday. 1 by accident, 2 on purpose. It was fun. Well, the on purpose ones were fun. The other one made me feel like a bit of a tool; you know how when you're riding up behind people on a path and have to decide whether to announce your presence (which sometimes makes them scatter in all directions) or just slide by quietly? Well, I misjudged on this one. Maybe I really should just get a bell.
Anyway, here, for your enjoyment, is a video showing me startle or scare three people:

The shadow of that camera looks like a rhino horn!
You are so kind and gentle.
I was riding to work one day in Annapolis, MD. On the fixed gear the bike made very little noise. Coming down a street a few blocks from work I saw a coworker who lived on that street and habitually walked his commute. Usually we exchanged normal greetings, but a fiendish impulse seized me that day. About ten feet behind him I let loose a primal scream. He leaped straight up, twisting in the air, eyes wide, mouth open in shocked terror. We both burst into laughter, which was fortunate. If he'd been a grouchy type he would have had a perfectly good excuse to slam me to the ground and start kicking me.
Hah! Good job! (both Mr. Wick and that the above person)
:)
Steve - indeed. I thought it more robot-ish
Cafiend - Atta boy.
Anon - Mr. Wick! I like that.
lama says: payback is sweet my friend....
Lama - Uh oh. You know, I've always counted you among my most favourite people...
