Well, I have not received a single entry in my tree contest yet, and I becoming rather worried. I know many of you are still waiting for peak foliage joy-joys, or at least I really hope so.
Here's something to get us started: the official entry of my tree, the soon to be dethroned King of Autumn himself!
He can't win, so he's no threat, except for the fact that he might kick the butt of your puny "winning" entry in votes, sucking all the fun out of winning at all! HAhahahaha! Think I'm over confident? Show me. Send me that devastating tree picture of yours as soon as you have it.
Yer Pal,
R A N T W I C K
PS - For anyone new to my tree contest, I enter the same tree every year, no matter how good or bad. It is usually pretty good, but thus far has never been as good as the first time I noticed it.

The King is lovely! I may or may not enter...you see, I am too daunted/confined by capturing one solitary tree because of signs, powerlines, etc. that are a nuisance.
The King thanks you Annie! I however, am puzzled. May or may not? Too daunted? This does not sound like the Annie I don't really know...
Ah the King is looking splendid in his autumn coat!
The king looks slightly nervous this year.
This lovely tree has encouraged me to begin scouting my neighborhood for a contender. Sadly, most of my neighborhood trees look like this:

The King is red in embarrassment because he knows that gold is the color to be this year.
I'm hoping to have my entry submitted this weekend. There are so many nice trees around here its difficult to find one that stands apart from the rest.
RCT - Why thank you.
JRA - I know you are, but what am I?
IBC - Those are awesome. I'm gonna post the first one again for sure. There's still lots of time, I keep the contest open until mid December...
Darin - Perhaps so; your submisssion last year rocked, I thought. I look forward to seeing this year's and despite my calls for submissions, don't rush it!
I am a working on it...shot a couple more yesterday.
My contender was only about halfway to full color on Tuesday. Usually something keeps me from getting back to it before the leaves fall off. I need to find a tree closer to my usual routes.
excellent...
Still 85 to 90 degrees (in the Fahrenheitway) down here on the West Coast of Canada's Scranus. I may not even be able to photog a TARATS entry before FARATS is here. Oh the humanity! Since I shant be in contention for your marvelous bread crumbs, perhaps I'll use some fresh bread to wipe away my tears, then dry them in the sun to make my own crummy crumbs. Yeah, that'll do.
